OUR STORY
Our family history
In 1994, inside a modest 2,000-square-foot shop, a one-man operation took root. Armed with a passion for tools, Bob set out to build something meaningful—a tool store that put expertise and service first. Seven days a week, he worked tirelessly to serve the local community, and before long, his family joined in. The shop became more than a business; it became a family effort, with his kids lending a hand and a small but dedicated team of about ten employees helping customers find the right tools for the job.
Just as the skills of using tools are often passed from father to son, the same was happening with Tool Nut. By 2008, Bob’s son, Sean, joined the ranks, eager to carry on the legacy. After gaining hands-on experience in the store, he seized an opportunity to grow his father’s vision—the internet. What started as a local business soon expanded beyond the four walls of the shop. Fueled by his father's success in woodworking stationary equipment, he took a bold step, launching the Tool Nut's online presence. With deep product knowledge, large selection, and hands-on demo areas, we quickly became the one of the nation's preferred tool retailers.
As the business grew, so did our ambition. We launched multiple specialized websites, each serving a unique need in the tool industry. These separate websites paved the way for what you know today as toolnut.com—a unified online presence serving all trades in the tool industry. Our company expanded, but our mission remained the same—deliver the best tools, backed by real expertise and an unwavering commitment to our customers.
Today, The Tool Nut has grown into a nationwide operation, serving woodworkers, contractors, and tool enthusiasts across the country. Our team has expanded, but our values remain unchanged. We take pride in our reputation for industry knowledge, top-tier customer service, and the relationships we've built along the way.
