Limited usageBought this and have been using for over one year, Today despite full batteries the trimmer would turn on. Checked the trimmer head for obstructions and none noted. Also checked to make sure no blockage from wet weeds present. Still won't work!

quiet but HEAVYI got this weed eater about a month ago. Went with battery so I could do work in the mornings and not wake up the neighbors with my gas one. It performs EXCELLENTLY but my biggest problem is it is heavy on the front end and it wears out my left arm really fast! I can go all day with my gas one no issues, however this one weighs a lot. I am a very strong women but i wouldn't recommend this to for women. I would look and get a feel for a different size. that's why it got a 3 star. I am going to try and rig up a strap to take the pressure off.

Good while it worked...Worked great while it worked......Now the head just bucks briefly when I try to turn to start it. This is my second Dewalt trimmer that has failed in the same manner. The first one only had a couple of hours of use (if that) and the second I had for a year or two but with limited use as well. I love having one type of battery but I can't bring myself to buy a third Dewalt unless they have fixed the problem.

Do not waste your money!Garbage-Garbage-GarbageThis is my 3rd trimmer in 4 years! Bought the first one in a bundle lasted 2 seasons which are short in Alberta. Started to intermittently not fire unless you really feathered the trigger then would not fire at all. Bought a new one thinking first one was a dud…. Same thing lasted the season died the next. Was able to exchange for a new one …. 3 uses in and that was it! Won’t engage at all.

Not for long-term use. I guessI was super happy with this trimmer at first. Bought 3 of them one for my mothers house and one for my own and one for camp. Then one season later the motor decided just to die on my own. Try to.find parts "back ordered with no date known". To bad loved this trimmer. Have a bunch of dewalt tools. First bad one.

Tried to love but too poorly balanced by designPowerful and the features are near perfect but the balance is off and makes it nearly unusable.I tried really hard to like this thing, there are so many good design features going for it and it's very powerful but you just can't wield it effectively. The handle is mounted way to high and the lower end is too heavy and wants to ride on the ground at an angle. It's possible to mount the handle below the fold but that's too far down and you're reaching like you're trying to cut the grass with your arm and that is a terrible position for your back to being doing regularly. Not well engineered or tested in the the end. It could have been great but it was so unwieldly I sent it back.

AvoidI want to like this tool as much as I like my other Dewalt tools however the cheap plastic used to make the spool housing makes this impossible to recommend. After only using for personal/residential use the spool head is broken. Reading other reviews this is a common issue. Do better Dewalt.

Handle BreaksThe handle broke after about 5 uses. It's made of cheap plastic that you can't really fix at home. Do not buy this.

Quit after 3 months of useRan fine for about 3 months but the motor gave out and won't rotate.

The spool is where the dilemma lies.I hate giving anything Dewalt a one star rating. The tool itself, sure it functions it works no issue. Where my problem lies is in the spool, which is the magic of this tool. I got this beginning of this year as my other trimmer was on it's last leg. The spool gets eaten up very quickly, I have no concrete on my property and simply hitting the head against the ground to feed additional wire has eaten the spool head cover completely. Good luck trying to find the heads, very frustrating as this is a tool that does take a beating but you would think with the Dewalt brand behind it the spool cover material would be a bit more robust. I, like I am sure many of us here, have all things Dewalt because it is a brand I have come to trust and rely on for years. But will more than likely look elsewhere when it comes to gardening/ lawn care equipment.
